Karsten Jänicke urodził się w 1968 r. w Kamen w Nadrenii Północnej-Westfalii. Po ukończeniu w 1994 roku Uniwersytetu Technicznego w Dortmundzie z tytułem magistra ekonomii i nauk społecznych, specjalizującego się w controllingu, marketingu i logistyce, pracował jako kierownik ds. jakości i kierownik projektów outsourcingowych w Thyssen Haniel Logistic w Barcelonie. W 2001 r. został dyrektorem zarządzającym hiszpańskiej drukarni papieru Lamigraf GmbH w Bönen, aż w 2008 r. przeniósł się do RENOLIT w Wormacji. Tam był kierownikiem jednostki biznesowej dawnego BU RENOLIT DESIGN do 2019 r., kiedy to został powołany do zarządu. Karsten Jänicke jest obecnie odpowiedzialnym członkiem zarządu za strategiczne jednostki rynkowe Interior Surfaces, Roof & Water Care oraz Pool jak również dla kilku jednostek korporacyjnych.
Karsten Jänicke jest honorowym członkiem VinylPlus od października 2023 roku. Jest członkiem zarządu Vinyl Foundation i członkiem Rady Sterującej VinylPlus.
Karsten Jänicke jest żonaty i ma dwóch synów. Lubi sporty takie jak bieganie, piłka nożna, tenis stołowy, padel i squash. Poza tym uwielbia podróżować, czytać i od czasu do czasu chodzić do kina.

Promoting young talents is an engine for the industry
The success of German industry is based on the expertise of its many employees. The extreme shortage of skilled workers is consequently an unprecedented threat to the entire economy. Therefore, I am surprised that we in Germany place so little emphasis on promoting young talents. After all, it can act as an engine for industry. To achieve this, however, politics and business need to make more efforts together - instead of just relying on short-term solutions.
